Flirc usb ir remote dongle11/21/2023 ![]() You just need to program your remote with any IR commands then program the flirc on your laptop with the Flirc software/program and then move the Flirc to the Fire. Sorry if I've made this sound complicated. The Flirc responds to the loaded command from your remote and 'translates' it to the correct command to the Fire. However, on a Mac Mini (also plugged directly into the computer) and on my Mac Book Pro, using a USB-C to USB-A dongle, the FLIRC does not learn. In theory you should be able to program an IR remote to send a command that simulates any command a keyboard can do. Control your TV, streaming box, DVD/Blu-Ray player, AV Receiver, HTPC, and more. On an iMac, where the FLIRC is plugged directly into a USB receptacle, I was able to program my FLIRC. In the case of using a FLIRC hardware add on the FLIRC device emulates a keyboard. ![]() The correct codes are built into the Flirc program for the chosen component you want to control. In the case of Fire Devices that have built in IR there are codes they accept similar to the Bluetooth commands. You then open the Flirc program on your laptop, connect the flirc to a usb port on your laptop and follow the Flirc setup as it goes from button to button on the Amazon Fire remote picture on the setup screen. For my Nvidia shield I chose the codes from a Sony DVD since I do NOT have any Sony components that might respond to a Sony IR command. It doesn't matter which component in the MX-990 data base you choose. When you are programming the Flirc you choose which of the device you are connecting it to (Fire, Shield, X-box, etc) and it will send the correct code thru usb to your Fire.įirst you need to load the codes from a chosen component in the data base to the MX-990. FLIRC USB Universal Remote Control Receiver : Part Number FL-25626SML : Hardware Platform Xbox 360 : Hardware Interface USB : Compatible Devices Television, Personal Computer : Special Features Universal : Power Source USB : Batteries Included No : Batteries Required No : Connector Type Infrared : Human interface. The Flirc does not need Amazon codes sent to it from your remote. So, on your other computer, you download the software, install it, then plug the dongle into a USB. It can’t currently be programmed on the Pi itself, but there are setup utilities for Windows, Linux (x86) and Mac. But once programmmed, FLIRC works perfectly with the Pi. It should be enabled by default, but you can check. , start Device Manager, click on device (may show as usb human interface device), click Properties, and then click to select the Allow this device to wake the system from standby check box. I'm hoping you have this figured out, but if not- Programming the remote controller needs another computer. May also want to check device manager settings. ![]()
